Incest.. ?
So since we were talking about Heathcliff and Catherine's love, and the idea of them possibly being siblings, I started thinking about how seriously weird but kind of probable that is. If I had a brother and I could make an exact copy of him but put into the body of someone that isn't my brother, I think it would be kind of easy to fall in love with him. There would be so much in common! It is an extremely weird idea I know but definitely makes you think right? That's probably also why they had such an easy time marrying their cousins..

Your right Abby, that is a weird idea. I dont think I could ever marry any of my family no matter how distant it was though.
ReplyDeleteIn those days your options were pretty limited! When you only know a few people your cousins begin to look alright :P
ReplyDeleteyeah seeing as they barly went anywhre and neighbors were miles and miles away ... slightly understandable for the time ! lol but abby is it weird i was thinking of the same thing but just not knowing he was your brother and meeting him and falling in love i bet it happends today lol
ReplyDeleteNo I dont buy that it happens today Tonya but you do hear about people meeting and finding out they are cousins later. One plus for incest though is that it takes a whole lot of pressure off meeting the in-laws lol
ReplyDeleteIt happens on soap operas... it can happen in real life! I think the quotes in class today about the connection between Heathcliff and Catherine really further that connection...
ReplyDeleteI used connection a lot in my comment... I meant the bond between the two is so deep you can almost see that they are made of the same material (as if they were blood relations). So yes Abby. As strange as it is to think about, I agree with you.
ReplyDeleteI agree...that incest thing was interesting...whoever thought of that is smart and twisted. lol
