Oxymandias reflection

This poem reveals to me that the brain of man, that makes it superior to all other animals that can't think beyond their basic needs, is also what has or will bring his downfall. Today we think that what we have created is "mighty" and right, but we have abandoned the ideas of yesterday. Ironically, today will eventually be a yesterday and the ideas the we think are great today will be "half sunk" in an ocean of sand. All because mankind likes to believe that today he is right and he will stick to that decision basically forever. I think that is why there is so many differences between group of people in the world. We where talking about religion in class and that fits here too. I agree with whoever said that religion is creation of man because that would imply that there are so many different religions because there are many different groups of people with different thoughts in the world. And even though the great majority of these different religion try to bring peace to the world I don't think everyone will one day believe the same thing as everyone else because all mankind has a brain to think for themselves. Even if everyone was at one point lead to believe a common idea for the benefit of all, I don't think it will last long because someone will eventually start to think for themselves and create a new way of thought.
