A Modest Proposal

This juvenal satire was very creepy. Even though I knew he was being sarcastic and trying to get a point across, the thought of roasting babies alive or using their skin for purses and shoes made me kinda sick. I also thought he spent way too much time thinking of ways to fatten up the babies in order to please the wealthy people that would be purchasing them. I am glad however that the portrayed author of this writing did not have any children. I would seriously hope that no parent would ever even consider selling their child for a mere 8s.

  1. I agree that it was very creepy... I think for most of it it didnt even come to mind that he was being sarcastic. I just thought he was a crazy guy that liked eating babies. Who are we to critisize? Have you ever tried a baby? Haha just kidding thats gross.

  2. I think the fact that this writing was so creepy is in fact the very reason it is so powerful. People wouldn't pay attention if you yelled from a soap box "we need to fix the socail class division in our country, come you wealthy people and give your money to the poor"

Buuuuut, if you tell them that their actions coud be compared to eating the childrent that they so selfishly walked by day after day. Now THAT is something that would get peoples attention.
