What is everyone's problem with The Rape of the Lock?? I loved it! Yes it was a little tedious to get through but that comes with the territory of epic poetry. I'm quite the fan of epics in general as well as sarcasm so the combination of the two was quite delightful! As I was reading it all I could think was "this would make a blimey good play!"... in reality my thoughts were probably a little less British but hey, this is Brit Lit class. Back to the point. I would thoroughly enjoy watching someone run around a stage demanding a lock of hair be returned to their head. The card scene and mythical references would add some nice theatrics into a mix of overall hysteria. I loved the idea so much I seriously considered writing a play myself! However, that would require reading the whole epic and much more time than I have on my hands. It isn't entirely out of the picture though and maybe one day I'll scrap together something that you all would find at least mildly entertaining.
Note: I also thought a mock opera would be a great way to display this epic!
Maddie you are hilarious! I think this play would only be fun if you were sitting in the audience laughing throughout the whole thing..
ReplyDeletePERSONALLY... I want to see Maddie being the one who had her hair cut off. I would deeply enjoy watching Madeline stomping around INSISTING that the lock of hair that has already been seperated from the rest be REPLACED. Yes... Maddie, if you turn this into a play, I WILL COME :)
ReplyDeleteBut on the seriouse tone, this writing was difficutlt to get through because as 'neato' as the card game might have been... it DRAGGGGGED
Then you get the huge words to describe tea. TEA! I know they were trying to make it exciting, but lets not make it ridiculous :)
