Shooting an elephant
Shooting the elephant was an interesting story showing the british control in india. But in a sense the indians had control of there land because they strongly outnumbered the british. just like in the story when the man goes to kill the elephant he is followed by many people. And in a way he is controlled by them. Also when he sends for the gun he seals the fate that he is going to kill the elephant. It shows how the pressure from the people force him to kill it.

I think it was dumb that he shot the elephant in order not to look like a fool...but then again he did have an extreme amount of pressure weighing on him from the natives.
