but anyways the butter battle book is and example of dark satire because it reflected on the circumstances of the time, the cold war with the constant addition of more and more dangerous weapons that were used more as threats then actually to hurt, just to scare the other country and then the fact of fighting over such trivial issues like how a group butters their bread!
Yea the whole laying on the desk thing was my idea lol, anyway yea i found it very interesting that a childrens story had such a big meaning.
ReplyDeleteHAHA. yeah, that was awesome :)
ReplyDeletebut yeah, this is really interesting. and makes so much sense, and i love how all the dr. seuss books all have so much satire in them and big life scenarios and reality, but not many people recognize it. it really is fascinating. i also like how the idea of buttering bread was so ridiculous and it was a great example to show the ridicule of the cold war in reality. and how when you use weapons to inimidate other countires there just going to try and come up with something bigger and better to defend themselves more.
yeah i know! but i never thought of it like that, i always wondered where artists and writers especially of children books got their insipiration now i know!
ReplyDeleteYeah or like the Red Scare that happened. If you think about America as a whole, we have done stuff like this all the time. We contantly do stuff like this. Bullies say they are going to do something but then they don't really go though with it.
