"Thoughts on Various Subjects..."

"We have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another..." I didn't choose this one just because it was easy. In fact, how many of you actually chose this one after Ms. Stariha suggested that we browse through them all? Anyway, why did I choose this one, out of all of the various thoughts? Because, I simply relate to it. And everybody else who attends Shelby High School should too, whether you're religous or not. If this post offends anyone in any way, shape, or form, then I apologize, this is just my opinion and if it does strike as offensive (which i hope it doesn't) then just look at it as satire, okay? haha To the point, living in Shelby we are surrounded by religion; there's simply no escaping it. Don't get me wrong; I believe in God and go to church and everything. But, there's just soooo much religion expressed at school; there is and I know I'm not the only one who sees it. At school, we have people who say their religous and mean it. Then, there are those people who say their religious and rarely truely express it; in fact, the only way they express it is by going to all the youth group gatherings, and prayer groups, and such. There is so much disliking of one another in school, sometimes to the point of hatred. But, there is never love. There is like but there is no love. And does anybody see those crazy religious followers trying to create love in school? No. Never. You see, not only them, but everybody hating on one another. Hate thrives in various forms. People hate those who are not in their social circle. People hate others out of simple, sinning jealousy. You even see people of one religious aspect looking down on and disliking those of another religion to a great extent. You may say I'm wrong. You may even hate me for this post. But, you know what? I could care less. Because I've experienced this personally and I know others have too. That's why I am able to relate to that "various thought" so incredibly well. And that's just the way the world goes around...

  2. I agree with Kaitlyn and Maddie. Definitely relate-able and definitely true. Let's just all love one another because that what life is about? Loving life, our neighbors, AND our enemies?

  3. Let me start by saying that no matter how this comment comes across to you... I DO NOT HATE YOU :) your like my bestie, so let me first say that. I have to agree and disagree. I agree with the fact that we need more love. We could honestly always use more love. Its true that there is kids who are hypocrites.
But... I have to disagree with your statement that you say there is never love. Love, as does hate, comes in many many different forms. Thats the part of this blog that you ignored. You are correct that people hate for ridiculous reasons, you are also right that we TEND to forget about loving our enemies... BUT love comes in many different ways just the same as hate. A Christian doesn't need to run around the halls being an extreamist to shouting what they believe. Lets be seriouse... you wouldn't listen if they did. And there ARE kids trying to show love in schools. Just probably not the way you are expecting it. For example... there are kids in this school that say goodmorning every day to the staff. Simple, i know, but its a way of showing love to someone who is usually forgotten. There are students who write teachers encouraging letters so that they know they are being appreciated. There are students who will aproach a teacher after class and apologize for others disrespect.... But thats only to teachers right? How about the students who go out of their way to make sure that there are not students left out. Kids that will give up their spots in a group just so someone isn't left out as a loner. There are kids who stand up for other kids in the hallways WHY??????

Because we do show love. Its not necessarily the way you expect. Its under the radar, and that is why it gets lost.

Religion is a funny word as well. I do not like to think of myself as 'Religious' but rather part of a relashonship with God. I do not believe what I beleive just because my parents tell me to... in fact, I study out everythign for myself. I have questioned what I beleive, and I have had to look at what I think. So Kate, I agree that we need more love, but I wish it was our BELIEFS that tore us apart, not our 'religion'.

And I'm glad we talked about that at practice today lol thatt was a fun conversation! haha anyway, I'm happy you of all people didn't get offended by this; I didn't mean for anybody to get offended. We're in high school; people are dramatic. But, I totally understand how somebody would take this post the wrong way...i guess....? lol

Anyway, I hope you're having a blast with your sister!! love yaaa :)
