Don't dream of yesterday.

So thanks to Christian I was just listening to the new Noah and Whale CD, which btw (just for you Ms. Stariha) is super good. A lot more cheerful than The First Days of Spring one. Anyway, one of the songs had a lyric of "Don't dream of yesterday" this reminded me of Brit Lit Ryan and Swift's "No wise man ever wished to be younger." This made me realize just how much we learned this tri...so as to follow in the footsteps of what I posted last tri here goes a random list of all we learned:
  • That it is possible to write a 12 page paper
  • Kaitlin can make a good man sticks...
  • And Noble enjoys to steal that man stick
  • Ms. Stariha can never fail to run out of reasons why everyone should take college english
  • Kody is a best person to make fun of (sorry Kody)
  • Never bring a gypsy boy home because it may end up ruining your family
  • Kaitlin can sing like Kate Bush..."It's me, Kathy, I've come home now"
  • Kaitlin can get that song stuck your head for DAYS!
  • DJ is a science nerd...
  • Never plagiarize, or you will get caught, and you will die.
  • Christian has good taste in music
  • Lady Gaga is similar to Frankenstein and sings about Wuthering Heights
  • Brit Lit is one of the only classes that you can have food/tea/coffee in and no one says anything
  • And many other things that I could post but I have a paper to finish writing....so...
Good luck everyone on your other exams and good bye to this blog (I'm not gonna lie, I think I may miss reading this blog...)

Heeelllloooo Summer...it's been too long since I last saw you (:

Learn from my mistakes

Never do T.S. Eliot for any type of project...ever, you will hate yourself for it.... immensely. Especially when you have to analyze his writings...just don't do it...ever, believe me I just saved you some future sanity.

:(

last day of brit-lit <--------- SAD
i am really excited though that we (those of us taking college english) get a break :)
have a good summer everyone:) make good choices :p

The LAST email... posted on the blog

I sent this out today but am posting it in hopes everyone reads it!

Okay:  So Laura emailed me and reminded me I had more to send you so the last last email is now the next to last email, and this email will be the last.  Sad for many of you... I know.

First:  some of you thought I was slamming Bri's project today with my rushed words of reflection.  Quite the contrary.  What Bri said spoke to me and made me want to speak to you.  She is right... though you obviously have learned in this class, which I hope your incredible improvement in the level of writing, reading, and thinking many of you have done will show, many of you still are opting out of continuing that level of learning next year.  All I can think is one of two things: I am ultimately inadequate, or society is flawed beyond repair... (because yes... you young people ARE part of society).  That is what I was trying to say.  I guess I shouldn't have tried to deliver a profound reflection in a few rushed moments between presenters... so sorry for sending a message that I didn't enjoy Bri's project.

Second: I will attach Hannah's paper here so you can see the example I mentioned.  Thanks Hannah.  By the way (BTW for those of you who speak text), Hannah's paper was not the only good one... but it was one of the most complete.

Third: Please don't forget my evaluations.  I look at them to help assess my instruction for future classes.  Remember to include your gender if you don't include your name.  Turn those in to my mailbox if you wish to remain anonymous... or turn them into me sometime before your final paper is due on Thursday at 3:00.  Don't forget to bring your books back to me either... I need to inventory on Friday!

Fourth: Those of you who desire test prep materials or reading material for next year's classes--send me an email and I will send info out to you!

Last:  Yes I mean last... It has been my honor to work with you and watch you grow this year.  Every single one of you has grown (even those whose grades may not reflect previous grades or desired grades).  I hope you feel this too.  I am proud of you all for sticking it out... I enjoyed seeing your reflections during the exam projects today, and I hope I get to work with many of you next year.  Enjoy your summer.
