Linton
When Linton comes into the book things go a little bit werid. He's so sickly and very weak. I would of thought that he would of had some traits of his father, but he's just like his mother. He seem like a little whiny kid that I would hit. Also he's kind of a snot to Hareton when Catherine comes around. Does he really love Cathy or does Hareton? They are so confusing sometimes. Does Cathy love Linton or does she love Hareton? Maybe she is just like her mother and doesn't know who to pick. It's not nice to play with their hearts like that.
Wuthering Hieghts Song
So I just heard the song and I don't know what to think of it. Its definitely different. I can't really understand the words but I get what its try to tell you. The book has been getting really good. All the twist and turns are starting to make sense. I was sad when Cathrine died I didn't expect that at all. But I did expect that Heathcliff and her would get together.

Darkling Thrush
It is purely coincidence that i chose to blog about the same thing that manuel just did...
I thought the sense of hope in the poem was really interesting. At first it didnt quite make sense to me but after we discussed it i had a better idea of what the poem was about. I also learned some new words like "thrush" (; I also liked how it dramatically changed moods from the beginning to end and the poet really captured the sense of hopelessness as well as the hope that one tiny simple thing in life can give a person.
The Darkling Thrush
This poem was confusing but then after we talked about it in class it makes more sense. Its about the author who is all alone and sad but he finds hope in a bird and through the bird he finds hope. I like this poem.
wuthering heights movie and song
haha welll the song pretty much made my day .. except of how its sung .. that can change bc that lady reallly creeps me out but i guess it portrayed heathcliffs and catherines relationship..then the movie was so weird bc it started in the middle of the book and unless you read the book first you would have had no clue what was going on especially when it starts out with catherines hand smashing the window .. just goes to show you cant watch the movie to know the story
THE DARKLING THRUSH
so this poem was intresting and kinda confusing bc it starts out so alone and dark and just bc of a little bird the man is so hopeful and cheery .. sounds like he needs to go to the loony bin (: ahah but its cool how its like romantic in a way bc like it talked a lot about nature and how winter makes you feel so alone and stufff. and this poem relates to like heathcliff bc of how isolated and alone he feels

Wuthering Heights
Heathcliff, it's me Cathy, I've come home.
It's so cold, let me in in-at-your-window.

hope in wuthring heights
in the story so far there doesnt seem like a lot of hope for anything good because we the readers have only heard the bad and secrets of wutherings heights that has made it such a dark a dreary place but like the darkling thrush the people oh wuthering heights are in a depressed stage but hopefully lockwood will be the hope in there lives that turns wutgering heights around to a new bright positive future possibly making amends with past issues like linton family and moving on from the greif and mourning of catherine
The Darkling Thrush
I thought that this poem was a little confusing until we talked about it, but now i really understand it. It is kind of interesting. He finds hope through a bird, which is cool. There wasn't much life and the bird brought a sense of life and also the fact that things would get better through time.
Wuthering heights
Going along with what kennady said i think that lockwood will play a future role in the book other than the tennet. I think that he will help resolve some of the problems present at wuthering heights. He will probably be able to turn wuthering heights back into an admirable place rather that haunted and scary.
Hope
Throughout the novel so far there has not been much hope for heathcliff, nobody has really liked him and he has been an outcast. But i think there is hope for heathcliff because soon he will be able to be with catherine. There is a big fight going on right now between edgar and heathcliff because of heathcliffs feelings twords caterine. but Eventualy i think that catherine will end up with heathcliff.
Is there hope?
I believe that in the end, Lockwood will help the Earnshaw/Linton family come together and be as one. He will break the ice that surrounds the atmosphere and it won't be so awkward anymore. It seems as if this is a rather hard task and I'm not so sure if he can complete it alone. He is an outsider and all he knows about the family is what Nelly tells him through her stories.
wuthering heights - hope
i think that in wuthering heights lockwood will bring the people together and solve different underlying problems that are originated but have never been brought to surface with the characters. yet, i also feel that lockwood is kind of shallow and insecure and he won't get anywhere himself because he is an unreliable man and has no self expierience that he has done because he learns from others mistakes instead of his own doings. maybe the tables will turn. ?

ghost stories
ghost stories .. hm well i must say it was quite a dissapointment to realize that shelby doesnt even have a sticken ghost story . but i found the ghost story of the town i used to live in..
In 1735, a woman named Leeds, who had already had 12 children, gave birth to a 13th. During labor she proclaimed, “May the Devil take this one!”. The baby, upon being born, turned into a monster with the head of a collie, the wings of a bat and cloven feet. It promptly flew out the window and has been haunting the Pine Barrens ever since, mutilating animals, scaring the locals and bringing bad luck.

signal man
the signal man was an alright story but i think it was waaay to long and confusing at times but i liked how we got to be on desks and listen
. thanks mrs. k . (: but it was creepy to think that a ghost was switching the signals for the train and there was a lot of foreshawdowing in the beginning of the story with focus on the signal man and ect . good creepy story i suppose .

WH
the beginning to wuthering heights is pretty slow and confusing when its going through all the geneology and stuff
. but its starting to get a little better with the appreance of the ghost of cathetherine outside the window
.. but it raise a lot of questions for me like why is she trying to get in .. whats her history.. and what does it have to do with the general attitide in the house.. we learn about how catherine and heathcliff were inseperable .

It was a dark and stormy night
In a last minute whirlwind that could only happen before the lovers were to be separated by the soldier's departure they promised undying love to one another. Tears were shed. The promise wouldn't die but so much could not be said for the soldier.
The parent's relief led to the girls stoic alienation. She knew her only hope to be reunited with her lost love was through death. In the dark of night she took her own life in this house and haunts it to this day.
If you walk around the house three times at midnight, the exact time she took her life, you will be able to hear her blood curdling scream to this day.

Signal Man
I thought this story was a little confusing. The first two pages were super boring but it got better. I don't really understand. Is the guy that was waving really a ghost or not?
Wuthering Heights
Why does hindley disaprove of edgar and catherine so much? when edgar asks catherine to mary her and hindley comes home they both run away for fear of what hindley will do in his drunken rage. Why was hindley so mad at him even after catherine spent so much time at the lintons learning to become a lady? I feel that Hindley would approve of edgar more than anything.
Ghost stories
The talk today of ghost stories was interesting, and it made me wonder why there arent many ghost stories for shelby. the signalman and Wuthering heights were both similar stories because the ghost is trying to get a message across to the human. He is trying to warn both lockwood and the man that dies of something that will happen.
The Signalman
So this story was different, and kind of confusing. The ghost really creeped me out, because i don't like ghost. they are a fear of mine. the part where his hand waved was really um.. scary. i didn't like it. he had a lot of signs that lead up to his "final destination" where he could have known that his death was approaching.

The Characters
So today's talk was really good. I'm glad that we got to connect the characters with people that we know today. That definitely made it a lot more interesting. Who knows maybe Mr. Lockwood and Catherine will get together. Or maybe Joesph will become nice but I doubted it. ha ha
Wuthering Heights
The begining of the book is really boring. It's really hard to get into, but I think with all the serects in the book that it will get a whole lot more interesting. In the first chapters you meet a very rude very prude Mr. Heathcliff. I don't think I like him. From what the servant told Lockwood about Heathcliff and his childhood I don't like him. He was a mean little boy and now he is a mean old man.

victorian age.
i expect the literature to change in a more proper and emotional conservative manner and but i think it will be an intresting era. we are getting so close to modern times that the dialect will be a lot easier to read which will be a big releif and so far the poems and beginning of withering heights is goood (:
titanic
titanic is by far my favorite love story, maybe because i have watched it so much in the past week but aww it just is so sweet and like forbidden love but like they both push through because they love and want to be with each other that bad. and like i think its really cute how she gives up like her chances to live like 2 times becuase she doesnt want to leave jack behind like its true selfless love. and like theres no fighting between them and they have complete trust in one another. but it really sucks how jack dies.. =(
Frankenstein paper!
ahh, this frankenstein paper is realllly stresssing me out like i wanna do good on it sooo bad but like after mrs. kralik or however you spell her name corrected my paper or went over it a little i feel like its allll wrong.! and now i just wanna give up . because i like the way i had it but i guess thats not what im suppose to do. ohh welll just another stress in brit lit, what else is new?
Wuthering Heights
I thought that Wuthering Heights is pretty boring to start out with. Mr. heathcliff seems very mean and evil. Mr. heathcliff treated mr.lockwood very poorly. Im just wondering who is that girl?

Wuthering Heights
Okay the first two chapters were kinda boring it didnt seem very much was happening. Mr heathcliff seemed to be very evil, sicking the dogs on the man. And when he returns who are the people who answer the door it is confusing. why do they assume he is stealing the lantern? What is the whole deal with the ghost grabbing him? And Why are they always cursing People?
Victorian Age
I wouldn't want to be a writer during the Victorian Age because there are so many restrictions. You wouldn't be able to be creative at all. I think that a lot of the poetry that will be expressed will be of what the people want and how they want to live rather than how they really are able to live. There will be more fantasy.
Wuthering Heights
Right now I find Wuthering Heights to be somewhat slow and boring, but as the book goes on, I think that it'll become more interesting (or at least i hope (: ) I think that Mr. Heathcliff is extremely cruel to Mr. Lockwood. He is his guest and is treated like an enemy. Mr. Heathcliff leaves him with all of his dogs and they could have tore him to pieces. I think that Mr. Lockwood and the daughter-in-law of Mr. Heathcliff are going to fall in love or something of that sort.
Wuthering Heights
In the first two chapter we get to know the main characters. Mr. Heathcliff is not nice and I don't know about Lockwood. Who is that girl? Where did she come from? Is there going to be something between Lockwood and her? This seems like a interesting book but it feels as though there will be twist and turns in it alot.

The Victorian Age
The Victorian Age seems as if it should be really good. We start to see whats what and how people change over a short period of time. Withering Heights seems like it should be good. The poems that I read last night we kind of gloomy. At least to me they were. In Browning's poem all I got out of it was death and when he dies he will be with his love again. The soul of his soul as he put it. This shows that he really loves her and he wants her back really bad. Hopefully the poems get happier as we go on.

Romantic Age Test
The test i thought was over all ok but I'm not gonna say I did good because then it would bite me in the butt...I know for sure though that my last essay was terrible because for some reason I don't even remember talking about Prometheus...So hopefully I did ok (:

Upcoming paper!
ahh im so nervous for this next paper! it seems really challenging. and it stresses me out how much points its worth but i am extreamly greatful that we have two full weeks to complete it, now i just need to make sure i dont procrastinate lol. from the example that we did with goldy locks it seemed reallly difficult to tackel this story from approaches other then psychoanological, so im deffinatly going to go with the one i feel most confident about.
Frankenstein
The frankenstein book was a lot different then what hollywood makes it out to be. I actually really liked it, at times it would be kinda boring but overall the story made me really think and like sad. because the monster and frankenstein both had miserable lives because of this creation, and it just makes me think about things i do in my life and how there consequences to everything. It also really refelcted on to the romantic era of how nature should be the almighty power and what we should look to to learn stuff but not to try to fight nature because the reprocutions will be far worse and thats exactly what happens in the book, like its saying life is better left simple.
Frankenstein
Frankenstein was actually not that bad, at first it started off boring and confusing at some parts. Then it started getting into the story and got kind of interesting. I like how they showed Frankenstein's side of the story then the monsters side. I thought it was interesting how at the end of the book the monster cried because his master died but through the book he was killing his family and friends and tried to kill him.

Frankenstein
Overall I actually did enjoy Frankenstein. There were some parts of the book that got pretty boring and it seemed to take forever to read but I like the overall story. Victor and the monster were intertwined with their destiny because Victor wanted his monster dead and that's all he wanted from him. It is almost as if Victor couldn't live while the monster lived because the monster killed off everything Victor loved. If he helped him, then he could have possibly been rid of him forever. On the other hand, the monster wanted to hurt Victor so he would help him but he couldn't live once Victor had died. It is almost ironic because they both lived to get revenge on each other.

sympathize thing?
I think i most sympathize for frankenstien's monster because he was left alone by his closest "father" figure. He didnt have anybody to even relate with except frankenstien and he abandoned him and left him to fend for himself. Also everyone he met and seemed to love shunned him away and thought he was a terrible monster.
moree stuff.
frankenstein has a lot of themes and lessons you could learn from if you look at certain quotes. in page 111 the monster tells frankenstein how he found the papers and read them, and how it made him feel even more embarassed and disgraced with himself, and gave him even less confidence. the monster says he created him after himself, which means they are alike in the way they are lonely and confine themseleves which makes a good point and really tells a good deal of the story in both there fates which we discussed in class.
who do you sympathize for
i personally sympathize for the moster himself because he was left to fend for himself and to teach everything to himself by himself because he was created without being taught anything or any human contact. and even though he truley wanted to be kind and friends with humans he could not because of his 'unbearable' sight. he then realized the way humans harshley judge one another and had to go into hiding and confine himself.

monster):
the character that i sympathize with the most would be the monster because it wasnt his fault that victor created him so ugly and terrorfiy and to have to discover the world on your own would suck because knowing that your own creator ran and screanes from you deffinatly doesnt make you happy or have positive feelings about the human race . i also feel terrible because of how alone and hated he was, it must have been terrible not having one single person to talk to, no relations no exsistance of love based soly on his outward appreance of which he had no control , and being doomed to walk the earth forever hated, even as kids in middle school when someone hates you it reallly brings you down or feeling you have no friends or no one to talk to well at leat you always have your family where as the monster felt like this every day of his life but never had ne family or ne thing to fall back on /:
Sympathy
My sympathy goes the the monster. Victor wanted to try to defy nature and create life, but then he created a monster who victor ran out on. The monster was abandoned by his creator. If victor took care of the monster than the monster wouldnt have been a monster. Instead victor left him and left the monster afraid and confused. So the monster left and killed to get revenge.
On the other hand
I could also sympathise with the monster, he was created by victor. The monster was in some part like that of a child and did not know much better. When victor abandoned the monster, the monster was hurt and like any young mind he would like to gain revenge. So in some sense the cause to victors problem was himself he created a monster by abandoning it and enraging it aswell. If victor had only taken care of the monster and tought it to be a decent living creature he would not have gone on his killing spree.
Sympathy
I am going to have to simpathize with victor just because of all the wrong things the monster did to get back at him. The monster murdered his entire family and all of his loved ones. I just think that the monster by now would of learned that what he was doing was only out of revenge, and surved no purpose. His actions were only out of spite of victor, his only goal was to hurt victor.
sympathy
It's hard to give sympathy to either one but since I have to choose it is going to go to the monster. He didn't have the choice of whether to be created or not and now that he is, he is alone. There aren't any creatures like him and Victor won't make another creature for him. Victor abandoned him right from the start so he has absolutely no one because whenever a human puts an eye on him, they immediately see his ugliness and either beat him or turn away. They judge him by what he looks like. This is a lot how society is today. On the other hand although, it is somewhat hard to sympathize for him because he has killed. Maybe if he hadn't done such evil acts, maybe Victor would create another monster. He has put a fear in Victor that another creature like him might end up wanting to destroy like the monster did. When it comes down to it though, Victor is able to make his own decisions and the monster isn't really because this is how he is...ugly, disgusting, and abandoned. There is no changing that.
The monster is the victim here!
How I feel is that he was created without choice and he looks hideous and can't do anything about it. I mean there was no make-up back then and no plastic surgeons, all though I don't think they could of helped. But he was just an innocent bystander in the situtation. Victor got so caught up in his work that he didn't think about what the outcome would be and how it would effect his life forever. After all the dead are suppose to be in the ground not walking around with the living. If your dead your dead just stay there. Cause I'm sure he would of liked to. Now that he has be brought to life he must suffer all the hate that has been brought against him because of his apperance. But I'm sure that Victor will learn his lesson somehow and hopfully pass it on to other so that way they do not fall into the same trap that he has.
Who should get my sympathy?
I suppose I would sympathize with the monster just because Victor's the one that created him. I mean he just wants to be human or at least accpected by mankind. If you think about it, it was Victors thirst to obtain the unobtainable that led to his creation. If Victor wouldn't of be knowledge hunger and if he wouldn't of gone against Nature none of this would of happened. Life would of gone on great and there would be no monster. No murder and no unhappiness. You would of been able to see more love and joy instead of hate and envy. Victor was selfish so then he himself became a monster.

Frankenstein
Passion and power corupt and then you can be lost in your imagination. Once that happens all could be lost. That is what has happened to Victor Frankenstein. He was sucked into his work of science and then became lost with creating a creature. As soon as the monster was created and came to him, he hated it and ran. He turn on it so it turned on him. He has written his destiny.
Natures Power
no matter how great you are, mother nature can and will always triumph over you. Yuo can build the most memorable statue or structure ever imaginable, but over time it will be lost and forgotten. As in the poem he calls himself the king of kings, but his great statue of himself was lost with time. he was not remembered for being the greatest of his time but the most arrogant. as the titanic could sink, and great chapels and castles fell through time and battle. nature will destroy all in its due time weather it is through mans drive for power or times withering abilities. only the intentions and desires are remembered over times true power.
Free Write 1-3-2011
We made it another year. hahaha
In the pictures that we saw today Mother Nature has taken it toll. This showed that you can't mess with Mother Nature. She will erase you in her sands of time and destroy you with forces unseen. Mother Nature is brutle and it shows in the pictures. It also shows how "man" wants to best Mother Nature. How they want to say they can over come it and beat it. "Man" gets to full of himself and then is shut down. Mother Nature is not a force to be reckoned with. Nature will over come all of the buildings that "man" has created in time. We are here for a short time but Nature is here forever.
