modern society.

So I know that this is a little delayed, but I really wanted to mention how much I enjoyed talking about the modern society and the way that we view it. I found it quite ironic that we all chose to talk negative about our society, yet it what we live in every day. I had missionaries from Ecuador at my house today. It was so interesting to be able to talk to them about how good we have in America. We are so blessed to have all of the things we have (ie technology, abundance of food, warmth, a house, police officers, ect).. yet we all chose to bash on it; including myself. It seems like all of the best things in the world often come with the largest flaws. By the way I really enjoyed reading all of the poems, I think that we should take more time to visit the deeper side of ourselves, the side that we have that thinks beyond this moment, and into issues that aren't often visited.. just a thought.

  1. I actually think we have it so easy and are so consumed by our trivial little luxuries, that we forget what is really important in life.

  2. i totally agree with you emily.
i think that we not only take advantage
of what we have but we dont even take the time
to notice. so maybe if we "stopped to smell the roses" we'd actually notice what we had.
and maybe if we would have a better attitude about everything in general life in america would be better.
idk, i guess that really just got me going.
im like typing and its just rolling off my fingertips.

    am i crazy?
    idk.

  3. I have to admit I giggled a little when you said "visit the deeper sides of ourselves." But in all honesty, I totally agree. If we all spent more time focusing on the little things and appreciating the things that mean the most, we would be a happier group of people. :)

  4. I love visiting the "deeper side of myself" haha but I agree Em. Personally, one of my biggest grievances against America is that we don't help Ecuador or those countries more. Our society has soo much. Too much at times and yet our country can't bothered to send aid. Granted some countries won't accept our aid, but others are dying without it.

  5. Yes we have many things we often take for granite but many of the "negative" issues we mentioned in class are given a lot of thought because in a country with so many answers there are still problems we fail to solve. I don't think our discussion lacked appreciation; I find it merely showed our understanding that problems exist that will be our generations job to overcome.
