To The Virgins, Make Much of Time

I really like this poem, because it really gets across the concept of "carpe diem". It uses virgins as a illustration for those who have not yet experienced everything life offers. This doesn't necessarily mean however to go out and be crazy. There is a distinct difference between doing what makes you happy, and being happy with what you are doing. I think the correct concept for one to live by would be "carpe diem", because it's not about enjoying the moment, it's about enjoying life as a whole, with each moment included. However, it get's difficult to live by this concept because we all get caught up in wanting instant gratification, meaning if there is something we need to do in order to prepare or advance in our future that we may not enjoy at the moment, we get greedy and pessimistic and unhappy with it. I think our society needs to fully understand the idea of "carpe diem", and if everyone in the world did that, we may get along better regardless of our beliefs. Yeah this was kind of off the topic of the poem but I guess this can be considered a free write...or free type...lol :P
