I think that the message of this story, or the meaning behind the plot, is that people who do things wrong aren't always punished. However, a lesson is always learned. Goldilocks didn't get in trouble or hurt, but I bet she won't disobey her mother again. The lesson was learned without a punishment being issued.
technocally (spelling?) punishment WAS issued. just not in the physical or verbal way we are used to. Goldi didn't have an amazing afternoon skipping through the woods eating berries and singing hip hop. NO!!! GoLdI thought she was going to be eaten by some hungry/angry bears. If you ask me... that is DEFINETLY punishment, but just emotional punishment. PLUS... She had to go through the pain of breaking a chair (splinters) and threw eating spicy porrage (tummy ache) and then being woken with hungry man eaters abover her. So no, Goldi didn't get a spanking and sent to bed with no supper. but I think that she was DEFINETLY punished!
ReplyDeleteI think Goldi would tell us that it was worth it. She had a fun day of adventure and even though the later part of her trek required her running away from bears I think she would agree with me in saying a thrill isn't a bad thing every once in a while. Of course, I don't expect you to understand David James.
